Valentine’s Day can strike dread in the heart of the hardiest New Yorker: If you’re coupled, there’s the delicate dance of aligning your own celebratory expectations with those of your beloved; if you’re unhappily single, all the emphasis on romance can be special kind of torture. In response to this, Brooklyn Indie Market and The {NewNew} are joining forces to present “A Valentine Fling: A day of fun flirting, and handmade shopping on Smith Street.”

Location: Starting Artists, 211 Smith Street. Take the F to the Carroll Street Station (G train not running). Saturday, 11am - 6pm.


The {NewNew} returns to the Brooklyn Flea at One Hanson this weekend, with another great lineup of fabulous vendors and fantastic food. This Saturday, {NewNew} artisans includeMuppetloon, WishByFelicity, and MulryJewels, and on Sunday check out ApertureAgog,YaniaCreations, and WishByFelicity.

Where to Find the {NewNew} Feb 5, 6 + 7

{NewNew} member Better Than Jam just opened a co-op featuring a plethora of clothing, jewelry, and accessories handmade by local designers. “We hope to showcase local designers whose work is handmade and high-quality, at a fair price,” said designer and owner Karin Persan. The openning party is this Friday night.

The {NewNew} is back this weekend at the Brooklyn Flea on One Hanson Place. This fantastic historic building boasts a ceiling mosaic and original bank windows and tables. There are 9 more weekends of handmade and vintage vendors at this location, so check it out soon! On Saturday, see WabisabiBrooklyn's beautiful decoupage jewelry, Muppetloon's fun children's clothing, and WishByFelicity's whimsical jewelry. On Sunday, check out handmade soaps by NordeaSoaperie's, another appearance by WishByFelicity, and soy candles in vintage tea cups by LuCrafts.

Where to Find the {NewNew} December 12 + 13

The Holiday Handmade Cavalcade might be over, but the {NewNew} will still be selling all over the city this month. As you check gifts off your list, be sure to take a look at the fabulous handmade goodies the {NewNew} has to offer!

The Brooklyn Flea is hosting Gifted, a holiday market in Manhattan this month. Stop by for great music, Brooklyn Brew Shop Beer, and fabulous vendors, including LuCrafts, AdornmentsNYC, WishByFelicity, L'AtelierDesBijoux, and JTopolski.
Location: 20 East 4th Street (at Lafayette Street), Manhattan. Saturday, 12pm - 7pm.

This weekend marks the third annual shopping benefit sponsored by Brooklyn Indie Market, an up and coming designers market. Indie designers will donate 10-15% of sales to benefit Brooklyn Community Housing and Services, an organization committed to ending homelessness in Brooklyn by providing safe, clean supportive housing each year for nearly 700 women, children and men. WabisabiBrooklyn will be part of this great outreach both Saturday and Sunday.

St. Nicholas Faire in Cobble Hill
A number of {NewNew} team members will be taking part in the 20th Annual St. Nicholas Fair at the Christ Church in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Check out LennyMud, LolitaNYC, PandaWithCookie, NordeaSoaperie, YaniaCreations, AltonWeekes, and AbbyHorowitzDesigns.

The (Makers) Market, set in the garage of The (OA) Can Factory, is a new place to find art and artisanal wares designed and crafted by a broad community of locally based creative individuals and organizations, including many working at The (OA) Can Factory. MayLuk and WabisabiBrooklyn will be selling this Sunday, so stop by and check out their fantastic housewares and jewelry.

The big event this weekend, which we have all been waiting for, is the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade! With over 50 Metro New York artists, designers, and crafters bringing their handmade creations together for this one-day shopping event, this year promises to be even more fun and exciting than the last. Be sure to enter our free raffle for a chance to win some creations from participating vendors, packed up in hand-embellished tote bags. Raffle tickets are free with each purchase, so the more you shop, the more chances you have to win.... So join us for some holiday cheer in our handmade shopping wonderland. You can't go wrong when you head to the Brooklyn Flea, and this Saturday is no exception with talented {NewNew} artisans WaiSze and TheChocolateMuffin.
