Workspace Wednesday: featuring Knock Knock Studio
Welcome to another fabulous edition of Workspace Wednesday! This is when we take a sneak peek into the work spaces of New York City artists. Living in the city we struggle with making our craft in smaller than normal work areas so we need to come up with creative ways of using our space. Plus I love to look into other people's apartments, don't you?
Today we're going into the studio of Brooklyn jeweler Aimee Schiwal from Knock Knock Studio. Aimee makes innovative and fun jewelry and hand-knit accessories. She turned a tiny room not even big enough for a bed into a full-on work studio. With the help of her Dad and boyfriend, they built out a room, tore up carpeting, built shelves and transformed it from THIS den of dirt:
into this gorgeous and light-filled space:
Here's Aimee working at her 'business' work station and you can see her soldering/jewelry bench on the right. I LOVE this space Aimee!
And here she is making her fun and modern jewelry, look at that concentration:
She makes fun and modern jewelry in precious metals and spun fibers. One of my favorites is this brass and sterling silver faceted cube earring, available for $35 in her KnockKnockStudio Etsy shop:
Thank you for sharing your space with me Aimee, I will be over soon to help you with your soldering!!
