I began my design career in the 1990s with a line of lost wax cast jewelry featured in boutiques across the country. I then went on to work as an interior designer starting in 2007. After several years of sourcing the work of other artists I felt the need to begin creating my own limited edition ceramic vessels.
My current collection is informed and inspired by the urban landscape of new york - the continued presence of layers of life that offer a scenery with patterns, shapes and colors rooted in the shared space of constant expression and use. The work often starts with images photographed while walking to or from the studio - worn paint left on the sidewalk, images reflected in a display window, scaffolding covering a construction site.
These pieces also draw inspiration from many abstract and non-representational ceramists such as George Ohr, Peter Voulkos and Toshiko Takaezu.
