I started tie-dyeing in graduate school as a way to step away from burnout and perfectionism, and it quickly became a creative outlet where I learned to embrace mistakes and enjoy the process. I soon started making a different tie-dye piece each day. Whether it was a method that took 15 minutes or three hours, I loved how having to wait for tie dye to set always gave me something to look forward to, and a reason to get up every day.
I specialize in a tie-dye technique called ice dye, which involves putting ice directly onto the piece and then adding fabric powder on top or underneath. This creates a watercolor, flowy effect. I also use this method on black or non-white clothing by bleaching it first, a process known as reverse dye.
I make everything myself, and post a new, unique piece on my Etsy every day. :)
