Giveaway: Take Me To The Maker Faire!
The {NewNew} will be at the Maker Faire in Queens and we want you to come by and visit!
After five years on the West Coast, the Maker Faire finally puts down some roots in New York the weekend of September 25 at the New York Hall of Science in Corona Park. Makers from across the country will set up tents and show off their stuff to the enthusiastic New York DIY crowd. The {NewNew} will be among the exhibitors and we chose to teach, create, reclaim and donate all at the same time. We are setting up a public knitting and crocheting circle with the goal to make 100 baby items out of upcyled yarns using community support (that means YOU!). The circle will welcome all acrylic or cotton yarn donations that can be upcycled from past projects as well as gently used t-shirts which will be used to create yarn perfect for baby bibs. All donations of supplies, time and finished projects will be rewarded with a {NewNew} goodie bag full of promos that highlight its local membership. {NewNew} members will be available to teach basic knit and crochet to get you started on a series of simple projects based on patterns by longtime Maker Faire supporter Lion Brand Yarn. Not available to sit and craft? Take home the instructions and donate your finished project.
To entice you to stop by we are raffling off two tickets to the Faire, a $50 value. To enter do the following:
Leave a comment and copy and paste a link to the Etsy shop of your favorite {NewNew} Maker.
Need some inspiration? Click here for a list of the over 4000 products currently available from {NewNew} members and links to their shops.
We will randomly select a winner from the entries and announce the winner on this blog on Monday, September 13th. If you win, you must claim your tickets within 48 hours, otherwise the tickets will go to the next runner up.
Oh and if you feel like some shopping after the Maker Faire, visit our booth at the Bust Craftacular, which will take place that weekend on the same grounds.
