Celebrating Women's History Month with artist, Lee Krasner

Lee Krasner was an influential Abstract Expressionist painter and collage artist. I admire much of her work a great deal. I like the energy and movement in many of her pieces.

She married Jackson Pollock in 1945 and was married to him until his tragic death in 1956.

She had been a practicing artist before, during and after her marriage to Pollock. Her artwork is housed in many fine institutions such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.

Here are three of Lee Krasner's paintings that I located on www.artnet.com:

"Portrait in Green," 1966, oil on canvas, Robert Miller Gallery.

"Gouache Number 5," 1942, gouache on paper, Mark Borghi Fine Art Inc

"Palingenesis," 1971, oil on canvas, Robert Miller Gallery
