Outright.com, A Spring Handmade Cavalcade Sponsor

Outright.com is already a familiar face on the Etsy New York blog, and today we would like to showcase them again as an official sponsor for the Spring Handmade Cavalcade. As you know, Outright.com is the alternative to Mint for small businesses. They have been a lifesaver to many of Etsy New York's members by providing a convenient, easy-to-use accounting tool that takes the guesswork out of bookkeeping and tax prep.

Etsy New York members have had the following great things to saw about Outright.com:

They make it very easy to see where your finances stand for the month and overall for the year. There are so many things you have to worry about in owning a small business and now my bookkeeping isn't one of them.

Very Satisfied Etsy New York Member

I've used Outright.com for a year and a half, and it has saved my butt at tax time twice now. My PayPal and my business bank account (therefore Etsy, Square, and Big Cartel) all link to it. I'm so bad at keeping up with bookkeeping, so it's been totally lifesaving to have it automated. The interface is easy to use too. I would recommend Outright.com to anyone who has had to keep small business records.

Outright - Your small business simplified.

When I began running Fritz & Fräulein, I was the one-woman show for everything from the branding and marketing to the design and production of my pieces. The last thing I wanted to think about was accounting - and to echo the sentiments of so many fellow small biz owners: who really has time to?

Enter my number crunching savior: Outright.

Outright is a cloud-based accounting software that helps small business owners organize their finances and prepares them for tax time in an easy, smart way by pulling accounts into one, easy-to-navigate place.  It seamlessly syncs with all your online e-commerce sites, such as Etsy, Big Cartel, eBay, your own personal selling site and the like, along with PayPal and your bank accounts. You choose what accounts to to sync it with and it will download and automatically categorize transactions all the various transactions on a nightly basis, in a way the IRS expects, to keep your taxes organized and you up-to-speed on where your money is coming and going.  Needless to say, it makes keeping track of your business financials clear cut and easy-to-understand.

One of my favorite Outright features is the business tracking portion, which has fantastic charts and graphs to help you keep track of who's buying, how much money you're making and sales by state.  Oh yeah, and by-the-way, this part is free (and always will be).  Even the tax portion, which breaks everything down for your Schedule C / 1099-K, is free until the end of the year and is only $9.99/mo starting in January.  This, to me, is so worth avoiding the tax headache of trying to do it myself or pulling transactions into one of the more complex programs like Quickbooks. No, thank you.

Not only is Outright incredible for helping so many of us simplify our small business accounting (10,000+ Etsy sellers and counting!), but they're one of our sponsors for this weekend's Etsy New York Holiday Handmade Cavalcade!  Click here to set up your free account and let Outright do the rest.

See you at the Cavalcade!

My daughter just started preschool this year, so I'm searching for some handmade gifts that will show her teachers how wonderful I think they are. Here are some things that I am eyeing...

Jody's beautiful lamp work creates wonderful swirls of color that is sure to please the most cheerful preschool teacher.

Teachers are experts at making something incredible out of recycled materials. How better to acknowledge their resourcefulness than this beautiful handbag made out of a tie?

Handmade Cavalcade Gift Guide for Teens

Teens - I have two I have to buy for and crimminy it is hard.  I suppose I could send them a check or iTunes gift card and call it a day, but that's what everyone else does.  I'm crazy Aunt Holly, I'm suppose to send awesome gifts.  That was much easier when they were little bitties (look for that gift guide on December 2nd).

I have gathered a small collection of gifts you might find just right for your own hard to buy for teen.  All of the featured products are from members of The {NewNew} who will be participating in this years Holiday Handmade Cavalcade.

I found this unique knit power cord at KnitKnit.

Be In The Moment has these terrific pendants

The Ninth Avenue Necklace by Wish by Felicity

Find this fabulous florescent pink wishbone necklace at Knock Knock Studio

Grounsel has a great recycled tie iPhone case.  It was featured in TONY!

So those are just a few suggestions. There will be plenty more at the Cavalcade on December 3rd.  You can find all the info right here.

Happy Shopping
